Aims and scope

Technology, Innovation and Education is the first journal to address emerging issues of technology-related innovation in education from a business perspective. The field of education is undergoing a dramatic increase in technological innovation and corresponding commercial organization activity with startups, venture investment, government support, and customer sales. The innovations range from products for administrative and reporting requirements, to learning tools, to data and analytics platforms. The extant education technology journals focus on the relationships of learning tools to traditional classroom practice, but leave largely unaddressed the growing commercial dimensions, and how these different products are impacting the ways that schooling and education can be organized using blended learning models and other technology-mediated pedagogy.

This journal will address the growing need for scholarly inquiry into the ways that technology and new organizational approaches, often enabled by technology, are impacting the field of education – broadly considered in all of its forms. This broad view includes the range of age-specific (pre-K through post-secondary and career training) and traditional physical structures, online, and blended models. The journal will explore new horizons in organizational approach and the roles technologies play. It will encourage methodological innovation and trans-disciplinary connections to provide a missing voice in the design of theoretical and empirical research, as well as management and policy decision making.
